MTRI is a non-profit charitable organization, which promotes environmental research and education in the rural communities of the Southwest Nova Biosphere Reserve, especially throughout Queens County and around Caledonia.
As a community charity, we create ongoing fundraisers to generate revenue to support staff and volunteers as they learn and share their knowledge about the local environment.
Take a close look at the Postcards, Greeting Cards, Folder, Posters, and Adopt-a-Turtle kits, and other gifts that you can purchase to support our efforts and enlighten your friends and family!
Our first artistic endeavor focused on creating beautiful postcards that highlight eight charismatic species at risk in Nova Scotia. Elkpen painted the elegant images and designed the classy postcards, which are sold for $2 each or all eight for $10.

Our next project focused on creating beautiful greeting cards that depict species and projects associated with MTRI. Elkpen once again painted the stunning images, while biologist Brennan Caverhill provided the photographs and design. The cards are also sold for $2 each, any six for $10, or all 12 for $15. If you would like to use these cards as a fundraiser, or for another special purpose, let us know and we can discuss discounts : )

Jim Todd helped us design a small folder to help us distribute information about MTRI in style. Here are images of the front and back of our folder - let us know if you'd like us to send you one, full of great information!
We have also produced a number of educational posters, including one depicting the tree lichens of Nova Scotia, a couple describing Species at Risk in Nova Scotia, and one about invasive fish. We hope to produce a variety of other posters to make available to interested schools and individuals.
